If you think child marriage only occurs in other countries, you may be shocked to learn that in 46 U.S. states, child marriage is still legal and even prevalent. Learn about this alarming issue, what can be done to stop it, and how you can help.
Join Journey, a Girl Scout Ambassador from Aurora, Nebraska, who is focusing her Gold Award Take Action project on this topic, in this virtual program to learn how you can make a difference. Journey is also a member of the girl team chosen to represent Girl Scouts at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women where she is learning about gender equality and advocating for girls and women.
This program may bring up sensitive issues. Parents/guardians will be asked to provide permission for their girl's participation prior to the program, and we encourage girls and their parents/guardians to continue these conversations after the program.
